On 6 Apr 04 Sgt. Jobes investigated a hit-skip collision on State Route 676 near milepost 3. Between 3 and 6 Apr an unknown westbound vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway striking a mower deck and trailer, returned to the roadway and fled the scene. This incident remains under investigation (490).

On 6 Apr 04 Meredith L. McKnight, age 25, 85 Greene Street, Newport, reported a highly intoxicated friend of her husband came to her residence and attempted to start a fight with Mr. McKitrick for not being drunk. Shawn Lane Pierce, age 25, Dye Street PO Box 655, Newport, eventually acquiesced to pleas to leave but prior to doing so, pushed Mrs. McKitrick to the floor. Mr. Pierce was later located and arrested for a probation violation (1291).

On 6 Apr 04 James E. Hoy, age 71, 124 Seneca Drive, Marietta, reported a set of Dunlop golf clubs were stolen from inside his open garage. This case remains under investigation (1291).

On 6 Apr 04 Dorothy M. Smith, age 35, 255 Highland Ridge Road, Marietta, reported her boyfriend, who had permission to drive it in the past, took her Ford Ranger without permission. The truck was located and returned to Ms. Smith (1291).

On 6 Apr 04 Alberta D. Lohr, age 81, 1111 Williamson Avenue, New Matamoras, reported she believes her great grandson stole $200 from her night stand when he spent the night at her residence on 3 Apr 04. This case remains under investigation (1184).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Georgene M. Christopher, age 35, 23180 Jordan Run Road, Coolville, for three counts of passing bad checks totaling $58.53, as charged by Deputy Sheriff Tornes on 23 Nov 03.

Jerry D. Coleman, age 43, 7188 South Dale Road, Stockport, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear to serve three days in the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 04.

Garrick L. Hart, age 24, Chesterhaven Trailer Park Lot 6, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear to serve three days in the Washington County Jail on 12 Mar 04.

Marsha A. Joy, age 22, 1308 Williamson Avenue Apt. 3B, New Matamoras, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 26 Mar 04.

Robert M. Starling, age 31, 4 Maple Lane, The Plains, OH, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear for a scheduled appointment on 26 Mar 04.

Marina Waldeck, age 43, 814 Main Street, Belpre, for failing to appear for a debtor’s exam on 26 Mar 04.

Dewin B. Wilson, age 39, 3445 West 49th Street, Cleveland, OH, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to show proof of obtaining a valid operator’s license and for failing to appear to serve three days in the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 03.

Daniel P. Edwards, age 33, 911 4th Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to appear for a scheduled appointment on 17 Mar 04 and for failing to show proof of completing court ordered counseling.

David A. Sayres, age 39, 206 ½ Sheldon Avenue, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear as ordered by the court and pending indictments on the charges of theft, for receiving stolen property and two counts of forgery.

Douglas Dean Starcher Jr., age 24, 15981 State Route 279, Oak Hill, OH, for failing to appear to serve 22 days in the Washington County Jail on 31 Mar 03.

Kelly J. Barnes, age 34, 13669 County Road 9, New Matamoras, for failure to register and failure to confine or restrain a dog, as charged by the Dog Warden on 25 Mar 04.

Robert L. Boylen III, age 22, 36947 Township Road 291, Lower Salem, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to obtain a valid operator’s license by 5 Apr 04.

Richard A. Hill, age 35, Pennock Trailer Park Lot 20, Beverly, for violating the terms of his probation by failing to obtain a valid operator’s license by 26 Mar 04.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jerry Lee Wigal, age 38, Route 1 Box 97, Elizabeth, WV, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Wigal was arrested at the Four Seasons by Patrolman Titus of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Apr 04 at 12:15 am.
