On 1 Apr 04 Harold L. Hendershot, age 65, 2481 Highland Ridge Road, Lowell, reported being bilked out of $5,000 by a man in Great Britain over a deal concerning the sale of a tractor advertised on the Internet. This case remains under investigation (684).

On 1 Apr 04 a 17 year old Devola girl reported being harassed by another user in an Internet chat room. An investigation by Deputy Sheriff Evans concluded no viable threat existed and closed this case as unfounded.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Billy Allen Babcock, age 27, 516 ½ Third Street, Marietta, for a felony charge of tampering with evidence and a misdemeanor charge of failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines. Babcock was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Apr 04 at 12:10 am.

Joshua Aaron Kidd, age 23, 221 Sheldon Avenue, for criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. Kidd turned himself in at the Marietta City Police Department and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Apr 04 at 1:35 am.

Cory Dean Gilliam, age 29, 207 Market Street Apt. 3, Marietta, for passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Gilliam was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Heddleston of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 1 Apr 04 at 2:50 pm.
