On 28 Mar 04 the Sheriff’s Office investigated a possible case of child abuse reported by the Children’s Services Board. The investigation concluded the charge was unfounded (697).

On 28 Mar 04 Deputy Sheriff Kapple file an affidavit requesting a warrant for Keith Loar, age 32, 1220 McGrath Road, Macksburg, for domestic violence. Deputy Kapple filed the affidavit subsequent to the arrest of Mr. Loar by the Highway Patrol for OVI on 25 Mar 04. The Troopers informed Deputy Kapple Mr. Loar’s passenger was his live-in girlfriend and she appeared to have been assaulted. Through an investigation Deputy Kapple confirmed the assault occurred in Washington County and therefore filed the affidavit.

On 28 Mar 04 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Garry T. Doan, age 30, 28 Knapp Road, Fleming, for traveling 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Doan on State Route 550 near milepost 20 in Warren Township.

On 28 Mar 04 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins initiated a traffic stop after he observed the vehicle he was following travel left of the center line several times. A computer check indicated the driver, Jonathan Paul Angus, age 22, 4081 Veto Road, Vincent, failed to reinstate his operator’s license. A subsequent search of his vehicle yielded two plastic bags Mr. Angus confirmed as containing marijuana. Deputy Jenkins charged Mr. Angus with failed to reinstate his operator’s license, driving upon the left side of the road, possession of drugs and transported him to the Washington County Jail where he was given the option to post bond.

On 28 Mar 04 a Washington County resident reported receiving harassing phone calls from a person known to him. This case remains under investigation (1090).

On 28 Mar 04 William C. Anderson, age 20, 760 Green Street, New Matamoras, reported his .22 caliber Ithaca Rifle was stolen from a duffel bag in the back of a pickup truck while parked at a friend’s house at 920 Campbell Run Road, Lower Salem, on 28 Mar 04. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 28 Mar 04 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes investigated a deer-vehicle collision near mile post 7 on Interstate 77. Paul D. Bagley, age 35, 714 Maurine Drive, Columbus, was northbound on Interstate 77 when he struck a deer with his 2000 Chevy Silverado causing disabling damage. Mr. Bagley reported no injuries.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

James Lee Merinar, age 60, 3227 School House Road, Little Hocking, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Merinar was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Jenkins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 04 at 12:05 am.

Wendi Janelle Mahoney, age 22, 126 Frederick Street, Marietta, for two misdemeanor counts of assault. Mahoney was arrested at her residence by Patrolman Titus of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 04 at 1:00 am.

Adam Joseph Trus, age 26, 36 Powell Road, Cutler, for wildlife violations, a misdemeanor. Trus was arrested on State Route 50 by Deputy Sheriff Kapple of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 04 at 4:05 am.

Robert Henry Herron, age 30, 8507 Long Street, New Marshfield, OH, for passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Herron was picked up at the Southeast Regional Jail by Patrolman Williams of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 04 at 10:15 am.

Scott Lee Carpenter, age 41, 836 Pike Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested at his residence by Probation Officer Bosworth and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 04 at 7:25 pm.

Jonathan Paul Angus, age 22, 4081 Veto Road, Vincent, for failure to reinstate his operator’s license, driving upon the left side of the road and possession of drugs, all misdemeanors. Angus was arrested on State Route 555 by Deputy Sheriff Jenkins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 04 at 8:39 pm.
