On 2 Mar 02 a number of Deputies responded to
an intrusion alarm at the Country Corner Store at 2346 State
Route 550. Upon their arrival they found that an unknown suspect(s)
broke through the front doors of the business and stole 63 cartons
of cigarettes valued at $1,733. This case remains under investigation
(592).
On 2 Mar 04, after attempting to initiate a traffic
stop at mile marker 26 on State Route 7, Deputy Sheriff Willson
as well as officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Marietta
City Police Department and Ohio State Highway patrol were led
on a chase through the city of Marietta, culminating in the
use of stop sticks on State Route 550 and coming to rest near
Its Our Lane. While northbound, Deputy Willson observed a southbound
vehicle overtaking other vehicles in the center turn lane.
Deputy Willson turned around and activated his lights and sirens,
yet the driver, Timothy R. Higginbotham, age 28, 542 Apple
Street,
New Martinsville, WV, failed to heed the signal, accelerated
and drove through several red lights throughout the city.
Mr. Higginbotham eventually turned westbound onto State Route
550, where the Ohio Highway Patrol ended the pursuit with stop
sticks. Mr. Higginbotham was taken into custody and transported
to the Washington County Jail charged with a felony count of
failure to comply with the signal of an officer and misdemeanor
counts of OVI and reckless operation.
Citations were issued to the following:
Barbara J. Wieferick, age 50, 431 Strecker Lane,
Marietta, for traveling 43 mph in a 20 mph zone while on State
Route 550 in Warren Township.
Charles K. Britton, age 52, 141 Parkview Drive,
Bolivar, OH, for traveling 55 mph in a 40 mph zone while
on State Route 7 in Warren Township.
Adam E. Schaad, age 25, 70 Davis Road, Watertown,
for traveling 47 mph in a 20 mph zone while on State Route
550 in Warren Township.
On 2 Mar 04 the Sheriff’s Office assisted
the Valley City, ND, Police Department, by apprehending
a 17 year old delinquent male missing from their jurisdiction.
On 2 Mar 04 David L. Hughes Jr., age 23, 28
Tom Hall Road, Marietta, reported that in August of 2003,
an acquaintance may have taken an amplifier from his
vehicle.
This case remains under investigation (1091).
On 2 Mar 04 the father of a fourth grade Warren
Elementary School student reported he believed a teacher
wrongly disciplined his son.
This case remains under investigation (586).
SPECIAL NEWS RELEASE FOR FRIDAY
5 MAR 04
At 1:25 pm on 2 Mar 04, members of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect on the
second floor of the courthouse annex after two courthouse
employees reported seeing the suspect spying on them from
an adjacent stall in the women’s restroom.
Subsequent to being read his Miranda rights,
the suspect, Ryan Davis, age 21, 223 Harmar Street, Marietta,
admitted being in the restroom and pleasuring himself while
looking over the restroom stall. Mr. Davis also admitted
performing this act at several locations in the county.
Security departments at their respective locations
have been notified; consequently, the Sheriff’s Office
recommends citizens maintain a high level of awareness when
using public facilities. Photo is attached.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Gary Shawn Anderson, age 28, 1238 Wheeling Avenue,
Zanesville, for two counts of failure to appear at court ordered
hearings, both misdemeanors. Anderson was picked up in Muskingum
County by Deputy Sheriff Underwood of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 2 Mar 04 at 3:56 pm.
David Scott Wiggers, age 42, 714 Circle Drive,
Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Wiggers was arrested at the Probation Department by Probation
Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 2 Mar 04 at 3:56 pm.
Michael Anthony Seevers, age 30, 13120 State Route 676, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation and for failure to
appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, both misdemeanors.
Seevers was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Jobes
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 2 Mar 04 at 6:30 pm.
Timothy R. Higginbotham, age 28, 542 Apple Street,
New Martinsville, WV, for a felony count of failure to comply
with the order of an officer and for misdemeanor counts of OVI
and reckless operation. Higginbotham was arrested on State Route
550 by Deputy Sheriff Willson of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Mar
04 at 6:40 pm.
Timothy Shawn Blow, age 29, 211 Fifth Street Apt.
1, Beverly, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Blow was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Oliver of the
Beverly Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 Mar 04 at 9:30 pm.
William Arthur Murphy III, age 32, 208 Maple
Street, Marietta, for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor.
Murphy was arrested on Jackson Hill by Patrolman Blasko of
the
Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 Mar 04 at 11:25 pm.
Ryan Andrew Davis, age 21, 223 Harmar Street,
Marietta, for criminal trespassing and two counts of voyeurism,
all misdemeanors. Davis was arrested at the Courthouse by Detective
Sgt. Warden of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Mar 04 at
3:30 pm.
