On 19 Feb 04 a 15 year old Marietta girl reported
her mother slapped her. The girl’s brother confirmed the
mother’s story that she was merely disciplining the girl
for being disrespectful.
No crime was found to have taken place (1090).
On 19 Feb 04, while on patrol on County Road 51, Deputy Sheriffs
Rhodes and Jenkins observed a vehicle pull into the parking
lot of the Station Carry Out after normal business hours. In
performing a check on the welfare of the driver, Deputy Jenkins
noticed an odor of alcohol.
The driver, David M. Vaughn, age 40, 117 Clark Street, Marietta,
submitted to a series of field sobriety tests, on which he
performed
poorly. As a result Mr. Vaughn was arrested for OVI and possession
of marijuana, which was found in his pocket, and transported
to the Washington County Jail where he was released on a personal
recognizance bond.
On 19 Feb 04 Deputy Sheriff Mankins was dispatched to the home
of Eric S. Valentine, age 33, 1005 Cornerville Road, Marietta,
after a report that Mr. Valentine had accidentally shot himself.
The Reno squad transported Mr. Valentine to Marietta Memorial
Hospital for treatment.
This incident remains under investigation.
On 19 Feb 04 Mark Libscomb, age 51, 2842 Blennerhassett Avenue,
Belpre, reported between 4 pm on 18 Feb and 1 pm on 19 Feb,
an unknown suspect(s) removed a hood and a front bumper from
a vehicle he uses for spare parts. This case remains under investigation
(1203).
On 19 Feb 04 while on patrol in the city of Belpre, Deputy
Sheriffs Evans and Kapple observed the driver of a vehicle
believed to
be driving under a suspended license.
Upon making contact with the driver, Mark E. Rader II, age
21, 9544 State Route 550, Vincent, Deputy Evans confirmed Mr.
Rader’s
license was under OVI suspension from the state of West Virginia.
Mr. Rader was issued a citation for the infraction.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
William L. Schofield, age 42, 2837 Blennerhassett
Avenue Lot 31, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on an order to show cause.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Ericka Dawn Diehl, age 22, 2301 Plum Street,
Parkersburg, WV, for possession of a false ID, a misdemeanor.
Diehl was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Combs of the Belpre
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 19 Feb 04 at 4:03 am.
David Michael Vaughn, age 40, 117 Clark Street, Marietta, for
OVI and possession of drugs, both misdemeanors.
Vaughn was arrested at the Station Carry Out by Deputy Sheriff
Rhodes of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 19 Feb 04 at 5:07 am.
Michael Edward Farnese, age 28, 11595 Highland
Ridge Road, Macksburg, for resisting arrest and obstructing
official business, both misdemeanors. Farnese was arrested in
Macksburg by Officer Askew of the Macksburg Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 19 Feb 04 at
7:10 pm.
