On 10 Feb 04, Sgt. Hiatt investigated a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of Sponey’s IGA on State Route 60, Beverly. After stopping to tend to her children, Alisha D. Small, age 23, Mill Street Box 1454, Beverly, began moving forward and struck Edward C. Martin, age 50, Route 2 Box 240A County Road 60, Waterford, who was entering the parking lot driving his Jeep Wrangler. Mr. Martin was uninjured and his vehicle sustained minor damage while Ms. Small suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s hospital by the Beverly-Waterford squad. Her vehicle encountered disabling damage.

On 10 Feb 04 Deputy Sheriff Willson issued a citation to Kara L. Koons, age 33, 209 Walnut Drive, Marietta, for overtaking a school bus. Deputy Willson issued the citation after the bus driver reported a white four door Plymouth passed the bus illegally on Masonic Park Road on 9 Feb 04.

On 10 Feb 04 Sgt. Hiatt as well as Detectives Wells and Alkire were dispatched to 1225 County House Lane, Marietta, to interrupt a melee’ involving several individuals. Through an investigation Deputies learned the two suspects fighting were embroiled in an altercation last week and the current dispute escalated into a fight. Jeremy R. Braun, age 19, 195 Caywood Road, Marietta, and Shawn A. Gill, age 24, 836 Pike Street Apt. 1, Marietta, were arrested for disorderly conduct for fighting. Additionally, Mr. Braun was cited for criminal trespassing for being on property, of which he was asked not to enter. Both men were transported to the Washington County Jail and given the option to post bond.

On 10 Feb 04 while working at a Fort Frye basketball game, Deputy Sheriff Mankins caught two sixteen year old boys drinking beer in a car. This case is open pending charges in juvenile court.

On 10 Feb 04 Justin Denton, age 21, 460 Barrett South Road, Vincent, reported an acquaintance may have stolen his dachshund, beagle, several rings, two lockets, a glass chess set, a crock pot, assorted clothing, porcelain unicorn figurines and a unicorn picture from his previous rental home at 10475 State Route 555, Vincent.
This case remains under investigation (945).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Gary S. Anderson, age 28, 1214 Eastman Street, Zanesville, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $258. Anderson was originally charged with operating without a license by Patrolman Hearn of the Marietta City Police Department.

Kraig E. Brand, age 45, 43139 Krieg Road, New Matamoras, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $996.25. Brand was originally charged with operating without a license by Chief Knotts of the New Matamoras Police Department.

Robert J. Brotton Jr., age 37, 107 Jefferson Drive, Caldwell, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $397.70. Brotton was originally charged with assault by Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier.

Aaron M. Corbitt, age 19, 2515 Broadway Exit, Parkersburg, WV, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $180. Corbitt was originally charged with possession of drugs by Patrolman Hickey of the Marietta City Police Department.

Jason M. Henry, age 23, 73 South Compass, Vermillion, OH, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $350. Henry was originally charged with operating without a license by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Carla Y. Clark, age 19, 500 F Barclay Street, Belpre, for a violation of her probation for failing to keep in contact with her probation officer. Clark was originally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Brian K. Hitchcock, age 24, 716 Franklin Avenue Apt. 5, Belpre, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $681. Hitchcock was originally charged with contempt.

Christopher Mitchell, age 28, 2300 Barrett Road, Cutler, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $330. Mitchell was originally charged with operating without a license by Deputy Sheriff Mankins.

Cassandra D. Murray, age 23, 2703 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $130. Murray was originally charged with disorderly conduct by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole.

Thomas E. Murray, age 27, 2703 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $130. Murray was originally charged with not using a child safety seat by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole.

Christopher S. Phariss, age 23, 6415 Fulson, M. Durrant, OK, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $140. Phariss was originally charged with disorderly conduct by Deputy Sheriff Canavan.

Vann Robert Porter, Jr., age 40, 1100 12 th Street Apt. 6, Belpre, for a violation of his probation for failure to keep in contact with his probation officer or to pay restitution and fines. Porter was originally charged with theft.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Shawn Anthony Gill, age 24, 836 Pike Street Apt. 1, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting, a misdemeanor. Gill was arrested on County House Lane by Deputy Sheriff Hiatt of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Feb 04 at 3:40 pm.

Donald Edward Mason, age 56, 406 Stroehman Street, Parkersburg, WV, for operating without a license and no seatbelt, both misdemeanors. Mason was arrested Near Frontier High School by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Feb 04 at 5:58 pm.

Marcus Alan Henderson, age 24, 1203 Wyatt Lane, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Henderson was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Combs of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Feb 04 at 11:45 pm.
