On 5 Feb 04 an employee of Dalzell Cash and Carry, 8233 Dalzell Road, Lower Salem, reported receiving two worthless checks from the same individual between the 4 th and 7 th of December last year. This case remains under investigation (8411).

On 5 Feb 04 Sandy Jolly, age 62, 1318 Colonial Drive, Marietta, reported a neighbor may have been involved in a domestic dispute earlier in the week. After speaking with the alleged victim Deputy Sheriff Huck closed this case as unfounded.

On 5 Feb 04 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Leah M. Tolle, age 22, 648 Phillips Street, Marietta, for failing to stop at a stop sign. Deputy Mankins stopped Ms. Tolle after she failed to stop at the intersection of Franklin and Lancaster Streets.

On 5 Feb 04 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued a citation to Eugene Long, age 50, 3160 State Route 676, for failure to register. Deputy Rhodes stopped Mr. Long on State Route 676 after he observed expired tags on Mr. Long’s Ford station wagon.

On 5 Feb 04 Brian A. Reynolds, age 46, 85 Woodlynn Drive, Newport, reported receiving a counterfeit $5 bill from an unknown suspect attending a Newport Youth Basketball League game on 27 Jan 04.
This case remains under investigation (1291).

On 5 Feb 04 Bobbie Jo Byrd, age 48, 9626 State Route 555, reported her stepson assaulted her. After questioning witnesses Deputy Sheriff Evans could not validate any eyewitness account and could not determine the chain of events. This case is closed as unfounded.

On 5 Feb 04 a representative of the Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department, 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple, reported an unknown suspect(s) broke two panes of glass out of the women’s restroom. No entry appeared to be gained and no items are missing. This case remains under investigation (597).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Daren E. Moore, age 23, unknown address, Parkersburg, WV, for criminal damaging or endangering, as charged by Deputy Sheriff Willson on 28 Jan 04.

Brandon M. Robinson, age 20, Route 4 Box 228, Vincent, OH, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $641. Robinson was originally charged with OVI by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Chadwick L. Smearman, age 22, PO Box 64, Williamstown, WV, for contempt for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $415.50. Smearman was originally charged with operating without operating without a license by Deputy Sheriff Warden.

Brent A. Carpenter, age 27, 204 Franklin Street, Marietta, for contempt for failing to appear at a hearing on an order to show cause.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

James Thomas Collins, age 21, 3795 Northwest State Route 377, Stockport, for a violation of his probation, a misdemeanor. Collins
was arrested at the Marietta Probation Office by Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Feb 04 at 3:20 pm.

Amanda Kay Szabo, age 28, 5541 80 th Place North, Pinellas Park, FL, for driving under suspension and no seat belt, both misdemeanors. Szabo was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Feb 04 at 5:45 pm.
