On 3 Feb 04, Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier investigated a deer-vehicle collision on a private drive off Township Road 1304 in Dunham Township. Samuel L. O’Brien, age 33, 2126 Vandale Fork Road, Spencer, WV, was negotiating the drive when he struck a deer with his Ford F-250. In attempt to avoid the deer Mr. O’Brien locked the brakes on his truck and consequently slid off the drive and struck two fence posts. Mr. O’Brien and his passenger reported no injuries and the vehicle sustained moderate damage.

On 3 Feb 04 while on patrol, Deputy Sheriff Norman observed a vehicle northbound on State Route 7 swerving side to side and crossing the centerline. Deputy Norman stopped the vehicle near Willow Island and upon making contact with the driver, noticed an odor of alcohol. The driver of the vehicle, Anthony L. Hanes, age 27, 13550 County Road 9, New Matamoras, submitted to a series of field sobriety tests on which he performed poorly. As a result, Deputy Norman arrested Mr. Hanes for OVI and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 3 Feb 04 Ron Foraker, age 50, 1577 State Route 339, Belpre, reported his .22 caliber semi-automatic Ruger handgun was stolen between Sep 03 and Feb 04. This case remains under investigation (945).

On 3 Feb 04 the principal of the Washington County Career Center reported to Deputy Sheriff Brown that on 21 Jan he found two underage males in possession of tobacco. Jason E. Waggy, 118 Dawes Circle, Marietta, now 18, admitted to possessing smokeless tobacco and a 17 year old Whipple resident admitted possessing a pack of cigarettes. As a result, Deputy Brown filed affidavits requesting summonses for the two for being delinquent.

On 3 Feb 04 the mother of a 14 year old Marietta boy reported for the past two years her son has habitually disobeyed house rules and continuously leaves the house without permission. After traditional groundings have failed, the mother requested and was granted charges to be filed for her son for being unruly.

On 3 Feb 04 Julie L. Coe, age 44, 1110 Moody Ridge Road, Vincent, reported an acquaintance allegedly stole several items, including a Kodak EZ Share camera, while visiting her home on 5 Jan 04. This case remains under investigation (792).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrant:

Cheyenne K. Riddle, age 23, 189 Fourth Street, Lowell, for domestic violence and violation of a protection order, charged by Deputy Sheriff Mankins.

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Anthony Lee Hanes, age 27, 13550 County Road 9, New Matamoras, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Hanes was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Norman of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Feb 04 at 2:35 am.

Daniel Preston Edwards, age 33, 16890 State Route 550, Marietta, for a violation of his probation, a misdemeanor. Edwards was arrested at the Marietta Probation Office by Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Feb 04 at 1:45 pm.

Aubrey G. Radcliff, age 46, 4000 Woburn Avenue, Cleveland, OH, for OVI and failure to control, both misdemeanors. Radcliff was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Feb 04 at 6:15 pm.
