On 20 Jan 04 an employee of the Wrangler Tavern,
6675 State Route 821, Whipple, reported receiving two bad checks
totaling $115 on 19 Dec 03. This case remains under investigation
(8411).
On 20 Jan 04 Marilyn S. Thomas, age 56, 2905 Reynold’s
Run Road, Newport, reported her 38 year old daughter left her
home and children at 10:30 am on 18 Jan and has yet to return.
The woman was located at Lawrence Elementary School on 21 Jan
and transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment
and evaluation (1071).
On 20 Jan 04 Lt. Huffer and Sgt. Hiatt were
dispatched to a home in Marietta in response to a domestic
dispute.
Through the course of their investigation, the Deputies surmised
that an argument escalated into a fist fight which resulted
in a 17 year old chasing his 20 year old brother with a kitchen
knife. Both brothers suffered minor injuries from blows with
a fist and were arrested for domestic violence. Lt. Huffer
and
Sgt. Hiatt transported the 17 year old to the Washington County
Juvenile Center and the 20 year old to the Washington County
Jail.
On 20 Jan 04 a Belpre resident reported receiving several harassing
phone calls from an acquaintance between 11:30 pm on 19 Jan
and 12:30 am on 20 Jan. This case remains under investigation
(500).
On 20 Jan 04 a Marietta man reported he accidentally took his
medication twice. An investigation concluded the man was in
no danger (1291).
On 20 Jan 04 Delores Ruthermund, age 79, 105 Blair Drive, Marietta,
reported an unknown suspect used her personal information to
apply for a credit card in September of 2003.
This case remains under investigation (1291).
On 20 Jan 04 Sgt. Hiatt responded to a report
of the death of an 84 year old New Matamoras man.
An investigation concluded the death was apparently due to
natural causes and there was no indication of any unusual circumstances.
On 20 Jan 04 Bonita R. Loving, age 37, 125 Miller’s Lane
Apt. 3C, Marietta, reported an acquaintance allegedly stole
a book of checks from a closed account between November and
December of 2003.
The acquaintance then allegedly used the checks to purchase
items from a local business.
This case remains under investigation (1091).
On 20 Jan 04 while working a Warren High School basketball
game, Deputy Sheriff Mankins observed the passengers in a vehicle
exhibiting suspicious behavior during halftime of the game.
Deputy Mankins observed the presence of beer in the possession
of the occupants in the backseat.
After the four passengers exited the vehicle the two backseat
passengers fled on foot.
The driver and passenger stated they consumed no alcohol, however
they confirmed the other two had been drinking. As a result,
Deputy Mankins filed affidavits requesting summonses for the
two 17 year old males that fled for being delinquent.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Antonia Maria Horta, age 20, 741 ½ Greene
Street, Marietta, for criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor.
Horta was arrested at his residence by Officer Corkran of the
Marietta College Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 20 Jan 04 at 1:40 pm.
Robert Keith Cole, age 28, 218 Main Street, Lowell, for failure
to appear at a hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor.
Cole was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Sams of the Belpre
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 Jan 04 at 3:03 pm.
Shawn Allen Carpenter, age 20, 108 Berry Lane, Marietta, for
domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested at
his residence by Deputy Sheriff Hiatt of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 Jan 04 at 6:05 pm.
