On 12 Jan 04 Roy Webster, age 66, 1487 Coal Run Road, Marietta, reported the theft of a .38 caliber Luger pistol and .22 caliber Derringer pistol from a locked briefcase in his home between 1 Nov 03 and 30 Dec 03. This case remains under investigation (501).

On 12 Jan 04 Sgt. Underwood was dispatched to 112 Devol Drive, Marietta after receiving a report of a domestic dispute between a man and his mother. Prior to his arrival, Dispatch informed Sgt. Underwood one of the involved parties had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on two counts of felony domestic assault from the state of West Virginia. Succeeding verification of his identity, Sgt. Underwood arrested Christopher S. McCleod, age 37, 409 Riverside Drive, St Marys, WV, as a fugitive from justice and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 12 Jan 04 Sgt. Underwood responded to 2837 Blennerhassett Avenue Lot 31, Belpre, after it was reported a suspect was intoxicated and wanted to fight with his son. Sgt. Underwood determined no elements existed to charge to man with domestic violence; however the suspect will be issued a summons for disorderly conduct.

On 12 Jan 04 Brenda C. Deaton, age 45, 112 Hillsboro Trailer Court Lot 12, Marietta, reported her live-in boyfriend James D. Ramsey, age 40, took her 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass without her permission and left to visit relatives in West Virginia. A teletype was issued to West Virginia law enforcement agencies and soon thereafter Deputy Sheriff Simmons was notified that Mr. Ramsey was apprehended in Fayette County, WV. As a result, Deputy Simmons filed an affidavit requesting a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Ramsey for grand theft auto, a violation of Section 2913.02 of the Ohio Revised Code.

On 12 Jan 04 while apprehending a suspect on Second Street, Deputy Sheriff Sears found a Chinese throwing star in the suspect’s possession. Deputy Sears confiscated the item and submitted the evidence to the Prosecutor’s Office for possible grand jury consideration.

Ronald G. West Jr., age 28, 820 Saint Marys Avenue, Marietta, for contempt, for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines.

Calvin W. Riggs, age 19, PO Box 341, Sandyville, WV, for underage consumption of alcohol.

Justin A. Harris, age 21, 522 Phillips Street, Marietta, for breach of recognizance.

Troy V. Lemley, age 25, 3874 Tick Ridge Road, Vincent, for theft.

William D. Shepherd Jr., age 22, 3514 Camden Avenue, Parkersburg, WV, for operating without a license.

Timothy E. Jennings, age 38, 407 Franklin Street Apt. C, Marietta, for contempt, for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines.

Jack R. Barton, age 52, 1007 Gilman Street, Marietta, for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Joy B. Grimm, age 30, 1310 Dugan Road, Belpre, for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Majed Abdullah Maliki, age 21, 908 Main Street, Belpre, for a felony probation violation, driving under suspension and failure to obey the right of way, both misdemeanors. Maliki was arrested on County Road 9 by Deputy Sheriff Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jan 04 at 1:35 am.

Justin Allen Harris, age 21, Second Street, Marietta, for domestic violence, breach of recognizance and violation of a protection order, all misdemeanors. Harris was arrested at Second and Montgomery Streets by Deputy Sheriff Sears of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jan 04 at 10:00 am.

Melody Dawn Gillespie, age 28, 14403 State Route 676, Waterford, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Gillespie was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Sears of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jan 04 at 3:05 pm.

Douglas Dean Starcher Jr., age 23, 15981 State Route 279, Oak Hill, OH, for failure to comply with the order or signal of an officer, a misdemeanor. Starcher was transported from Jackson County by Deputy Sheriff Underwood of the Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jan 04 at 3:58 pm.

Christopher Shawn McCleod, age 37, 112 Devol Drive, Marietta, a fugitive from justice. McCleod was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Underwood of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Jan 04 at 7:35 pm.
