On 8 Jan 04 Lt. Canavan investigated a single vehicle crash on State Route 7, 1.5 miles north of County Road 47. Justin D. Hoff, age 24, PO Box 439 Hendricks Street, Newport was northbound on State Route 7 when his Toyota truck began to slide sideways down the road. The broadside of the truck then hit a mailbox, slid down a small ditch and rolled onto its side, suffering disabling damage. Mr. Hoff received no injuries.

On 8 Jan 04 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes investigated a single vehicle crash on County Road 4 near milepost 14. Karen S. Rohrer, age 57, Route 1 Township Road 145, Waterford, was eastbound on County Road 4 when her Ford Crown Victoria began to fishtail after negotiating a snow-covered curve. The vehicle finally came to rest after colliding with a fencepost and landing in a creek. Ms. Rohrer reported no injuries and the vehicle was towed after sustaining functional damage.

On 8 Jan 04 Deputy Sheriff Brown investigated a two vehicle crash 1.5 miles north of County Road 47. Deborah Withrow, 34037 Brownsville Road, New Matamoras, parked her vehicle northbound on State Route 7 after she witnessed the driver of a truck crash three cars ahead of her. Succeeding her exit to help the other driver, Ms. Winthrow Ford van with a passenger inside was struck in the rear by a white Buick driven by Clara J. Hendershot, age 72, 625 Greene Street, Newport. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

On 8 Jan 04 Deputy Sheriff Brown was dispatched to the home of Brandy Riddle, age 22, 189 Fourth Street, Lowell, after Mrs. Riddle reported she was assaulted by her husband Cheyenne Riddle, age 23. Mrs. Riddle stated while she and her husband had an argument concerning the use of her truck, Mr. Riddle attempted to push Mrs. Riddle down the stairs. Mrs. Riddle was then forced against the wall by her neck and struck in the mouth causing a minor laceration. Mr. Riddle was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County Jail where he is being held without bond.

On 8 Jan 04 an employee of Byer’s Exxon, 26960 State Route 7, Marietta, reported 250 “Lucky 10’s” Ohio Lottery tickets were either misplaced or stolen during the month of September 2003. The lottery tickets have not been activated and have no monetary value. This case remains under investigation (500) (597).

On 8 Jan 04 Ruth A. Ramage, age 21, Route 1 Box 89C County Road 47, Marietta, reported an unidentified suspect(s) stole an engine from her yard. The engine was in the yard for sale purposes and stolen between noon and 1 pm on 8 Jan 04. This case remains under investigation (1291).

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrant:

Jason E. Wolfe, age 31, 1135 Cisler Drive, Marietta, for failure to appear to serve four days in jail for driving under FRA suspension. Wolfe was originally charged by the Marietta City Police Department.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

April Dawn Frazier, age 42, 414 ½ Lord Street Marietta, OH, for Disorderly Conduct (cease & desist) and possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Frazier was arrested at the Washington County Courthouse by Deputy Sheriff Summers of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jan 04 at 1:00 pm.

Timothy Shane Fullerton, age 22, Route 4 Box 229, Clarksburg, WV, for Theft and Forgery, both felony charges, and theft, a misdemeanor charge. Fullerton was arrested at the Belpre Police Department by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jan 04 at 3:20 pm.

George Harold Watson IV, age 19, 2453 Coachman Drive, Deltona, FL, for Operating with an Expired OL and Failure to Register, both misdemeanor charges. Watson was arrested on Pike Street by Patrolman Hearn of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jan 04 at 7:20 pm.

Carolyn Sue Valentine, age 44, 305 Harmar Street, Marietta, OH, for Disorderly Conduct (Intoxication). Valentine was arrested at her residence by Patrolman Hearn of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jan 04 at 9:20 pm.

Cheyenne Eugene Riddle, age 23, 189 Fourth Street, Lowell, OH, for Domestic Violence. Riddle was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Brown of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jan 04 at 10:40 pm.
