On 29 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriffs Evans and Kapple
as well as Sgt. Hiatt responded to a domestic violence complaint
at the home of Beth Mayle, age 24, 1131 State Route 555, Cutler.
Ms. Mayle stated that her live-in boyfriend James Croston,
age
26, began defaming her and her mother and when she attempted
to leave he would not let her.
Ms. Mayle attempted to phone her mother but Mr. Croston usurped
the phone and removed the batteries.
When she again attempted to leave, Mr. Croston took hold and
shoved her into the corner of the couch, causing her nose to
bleed. Ms. Mayle was then struck in the face and managed to
flee to her mother’s house.
Based on the testimony of Ms. Mayle and subsequent investigation,
Deputy Evans requested a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Croston
for domestic violence. The Barlow VFD transported Ms. Mayle
to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment and Deputies located
Mr. Croston at a relative’s home and transported him to
the Washington County Jail.
On 29 Dec 03 Lt. Canavan was dispatched to the
home of Sonya D. Coe, age 40, Route 2 Box 191, Lower Salem,
after Ms. Coe reported she was a victim of domestic violence.
The accounts of Ms. Coe as well as an eyewitness concur that
Ms. Coe’s live-in boyfriend, Buddy A. Miller, age 29,
PO Box 83, Lower Salem, pushed her to the floor causing her
to fall into a kerosene heater then choked her.
Based on this evidence Lt. Canavan requested a warrant for
the arrest of Mr. Miller, who was later located and transported
to the Washington County Jail.
On 29 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriffs Gherke and Norman were dispatched
to the home of Mary Lou Pasco, age 42, 22781 State Route 60,
Beverly, concerning a domestic violence complaint.
Ms. Pasco stated her live-in boyfriend Jason B. Whittaker,
age 26, choked, kicked and held her at their home for several
hours
against her will. While Ms. Pasco began her escape, Mr. Whittaker
lighted several pieces of tissue paper on fire and threw them
at their Christmas tree; which was extinguished by Ms. Pasco
before the Deputies arrived.
After an investigation Deputy Norman requested warrants for
the arrest of Mr. Whittaker for domestic violence, aggravated
arson and kidnapping. Deputy Sheriff Sears later arrested Mr.
Whittaker and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 29 Dec 03 an employee of C & A Mini Market, State Route
7, Reno, reported between 26 and 29 Dec 03 an unknown suspect(s)
stole six cement yard ornaments from the yard area of the business.
This case remains under investigation (586).
On 29 Dec 03 Timothy
J. Dunfee, age 38, 4990 Welch Road, Little Hocking, reported
receiving a bad check in the
amount of $450. Mr. Dunfee received the check as payment
for a car he sold to an individual in October of 2003.
This case remains under investigation (8411).
The Sheriff’s Office
received the following warrants:
Brandon Hoffert, age 19, Route 1 Box 151CC, Waterford,
OH, for Alcohol under 21 Years. Hoffert was charged by Beverly
Police Department.
Ricky D. Stevens, age 36, 280 Leo Sams Road, Chesterhill, OH,
for Driving Under Suspension and Possession of Marijuana. Stevens
was charged by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Richard Delaneo Clark, age 37, Route 4 Box 230,
Marietta, OH, for Possession of Drugs, Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia,
and Failure to Signal, all misdemeanor charges. Clark was arrested
in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office, and processed into
the County Jail on 29 Dec 03 at 12:10 AM.
James Nemo Lee Croston, age 26, 300 Buckeye Ridge Road, Chesterhill
OH, for Domestic Violence, a misdemeanor.
Croston was arrested on County Road 206 by Deputy Sheriff Kapple
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the County Jail on 29 Dec 03 at 1:50 AM.
John William Miracle, age 42, 1620 Muskingum
River Road, Marietta, OH, for Failure to Appear, a felony charge.
Miracle turned himself in to Deputy Sheriff Sears of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Dec 03 at 7:25 AM.
Jason Bradley Whittaker, age 26, 22781 State Route 60, Beverly,
OH, for Domestic Violence, a misdemeanor charge, Aggravated
Arson, and Kidnapping, both felony charges.
Whittaker was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Norman
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 29 Dec 03 at 10:10 AM.
Jessy Lee Simmons, age 21, 6425 Browndale, Brewster, OH, for
Probation Violation out of Marietta Municipal Court.
Simmons was arrested at the Municipal Court Probation Office
by Probation Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Dec 03 at 1:30 PM.
Dawson Neil Rader, age 30, 548 Executive Boulevard, Delaware,
OH, for Failure to Appear on Fines, a misdemeanor charge.
Rader was picked up at the Morrow County Jail and returned
to
the Washington County Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood on 29
Dec 03 at 5:15 PM.
David Winfield Madison, age 31, 105 Knox Street, Marietta,
OH, for Theft, a misdemeanor charge.
Madison was arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman Hilverding of
the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington
County Jail on 29 Dec 03 at 8:25 PM.
