On 28 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriffs Kapple and Evans were dispatched to the Fox Den Bar on State Route 821 concerning a possible fight. The course of their investigation led them to one of the fight participants sleeping in her car. The driver of the car attempted to back out of the parking lot and after stopping Deputy Evans noticed an odor of alcohol. The driver, Amber L. Petry, age 26, 440 Second Street, Macksburg, refused to take a field sobriety test, was arrested for OMVI and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 28 Dec 03 Loraine Devlin, age 41, 751 Bighorn Court, reported her ex-boyfriend, John S. Bishop, age 27, 5020 State Route 60, Marietta, trespassed on her property for a second time that evening. When Sgt. Hiatt and Deputy Stackpole arrived at the scene Mr. Bishop was inside speaking with Ms. Devlin. Ms. Devlin informed the Deputies she did not want Mr. Bishop there, therefore Mr. Bishop was arrested for criminal trespassing and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 28 Dec 03 while on patrol on US 50 near Braun Road in Belpre Deputy Sheriff Jenkins observed a vehicle stopped at the aforementioned intersection with one working headlight. Upon making contact with the driver Deputy Jenkins noticed an odor of alcohol. After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, Deputy Jenkins issued Emily B. Tallman, age 23, 1520 North Beckley Avenue #638, Dallas, TX, a citation for having only one headlight, arrested her for OMVI and transported her to the Washington County Jail.

On 27 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriff Simmons investigated a two vehicle accident at the Marietta Car Wash on State Route 7 in Marietta. Zanetta D. Shields, age 38, PO Box 153 Township Road 118, Coal Run, was exiting Sierra Apartments driving her maroon Chevy Astrovan when she was struck by a white Lexus driven by Walter B. McVeigh, age 50, 914 Harriet Avenue Northwest, Canton. Damage was slight and no injuries were reported.

On 28 Dec 03 a Washington County woman reported she has been receiving harassing phone calls for the past two and a half years. This case remains under investigation (200).

On 28 Dec 03 a member of the Cutler Chapel United Methodist Church located at 11078 Veto Road, reported between Friday night and Sunday morning an unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered the church and rummaged through the kitchen. This case remains under investigation (1090).

On 28 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriff Simmons and Sgt. Hiatt responded to the report of a fire on the property of Walter V. Griffin, age 56, 680 Schau Road, Lowell. Family members reported around 7:30 pm they heard an explosion and when looking in that direction they saw a storage shed on fire. After arriving at the scene, L-A Firemen successfully extinguished the blaze. This case remains under investigation pending review by the fire marshal.

On 28 Dec 03 Wanda Morris, age 47, 161 Forshey Road, Marietta, reported an acquaintance used her personal information and without permission purchased a Gateway computer in November of this year. This case remains under investigation (500) (597).

On 28 Dec 03 while on patrol eastbound on US 50 Deputy Sheriffs Rhodes and Jenkins observed a vehicle turn southbound onto Farson Street without using a turn signal. After stopping the vehicle and being given permission to search it by the driver, Deputy Jenkins found a duffel bag that contained a plastic bag with what appeared to be marijuana and a scale. The driver, Richard Clark, age 37, Route 4 Box 230, Marietta, admitted the substance was marijuana as well were the contents of a pill bottle found in his sock. Mr. Clark was issued a citation for failure to use a turn signal and placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia, violations of Sections 2925.11 and 2925.14(C1) of the Ohio Revised Code. Mr. Clark was transported to the Washington County Jail and later released on a personal recognizance bond.

Amber Lynn Petry, age 26, 440 Second Street, Macksburg, OH for Operating a Motor Vehicle while under the Influence, a misdemeanor charge. Petry was arrested at the Fox Den by Deputy Sheriff Kapple of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the County Jail on 28 Dec 03 at 2:50 AM.

Lucy Mae Hickman, age 44, 41011 Township Road 298, Caldwell OH, for Disorderly Conduct. Hickman was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Sury of the Marietta City Police Department. Hickman was processed into the County Jail on 28 Dec 03 at 3:00 AM.

Jeffrey William Welsch, age 18, 607 Elm Street Belpre, OH, for Theft and Probation Violation, both felony charges. Welsch was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Morris of the Belpre Police Department and processed into the County Jail on 28 Dec 03 at 3:55 AM.

Emily Beth Tallman, age 23, 1520 Beckley Avenue, Apartment 638, Dallas TX, for Operating a Motor Vehicle while under the Influence and No Headlights, both misdemeanor charges. Tallman was arrested on Washington Boulevard in Belpre, Ohio by Deputy Sheriff Jenkins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Tallman was processed into the County Jail on 28 Dec 03 at 4:43 AM.

James Edgar Wolford, age 25, 1580 State Route 140, Oak Hill, OH, for No Operator’s License and Speed, both misdemeanor charges. Wolford was arrested on US 50 by Trooper Wetz of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Wolford was processed into the County Jail on 28 Dec 03 at 5:00 AM.

John Shane Bishop, age 27, 5020 State Route 60, Devola OH, for Criminal Trespass. Bishop was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the County Jail on 28 Dec 03 at 5:05 AM.
