On 10 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriff Malone investigated
a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Fifth and Ullman
Streets in Beverly. A red Ford Taurus driven by Blaine S. Hart,
age 83, 2020 State Route 266, Stockport was stopped at a stop
sign while westbound on Ullman Street then, failing to yield
the right of way, struck a green Chevy Blazer driven by Richard
F. Dierkes, age 57, 513 York Street, Wheeling, WV, while attempting
to turn southbound onto Fifth Street. Damage was slight and
no injuries were reported.
On 10 Dec 03 an employee of the Beverly Food
Mart, 415 Fifth Street, Beverly, reported the theft of a book
of 100
Ohio Lottery Bingo tickets between 8 Dec and 10 Dec 03.
This case remains under investigation (945).
On 10 Dec 03 Evan Leightner, age 29, 18 Suzanne Street, Little
Hocking, reported the theft of an air compressor, 2 Stihl chainsaws,
three logging chains, a roofing nailer, a framing nailer and
a pair of size ten logging boots from a locked toolbox between
11:30 pm Tuesday and 10:30 am Wednesday. This case remains under
investigation (602).
On 10 Dec 03 an employee of Dominion East Ohio Gas, 53 Ashby
Ridge Road, Parkersburg, WV, reported the theft of a gas meter
from 1750 Brackenridge Road, Vincent, which was later used to
illegally tap a neighboring gas line. This case remains under
investigation (945).
On 10 Dec 03 in the course of executing an arrest warrant on
the charge of arson, Deputy Sheriffs Hiatt and Kapple encountered
resistance by the arrestee, Augustine Brunoni Jr., age 23,
Lot
8 Harris Trailer Park, Newport. Given permission, Deputies
entered the residence and requested Mr. Brunoni to rise from
the chair
in which he was seated. Instead Mr. Brunoni covered himself
completely and cowered under a comforter while sitting in the
chair. After being compelled to stand, the defendant began
to
flail and jerk his arms away from the two Deputies. The threatened
use of pepper spray finally subdued the defendant enough to
take him into custody and transport him to the Washington County
Jail.
As a result of the altercation Deputy Hiatt filed an affidavit
requesting a charge of resisting arrest for Mr. Brunoni, a
violation
of section 2921.33(A) of the Ohio Revised Code.
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Timothy Newbrough, for contempt of a court order
for failing to appear on a pending indictment for Theft.
Joshua Rowles, age 19, 5223 Cline Road, Kent, OH, for contempt
for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines
in the sum of $151.00. Rowles was previously charged with Resisting
Arrest by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Jon P. Singer, age 33, Route 1 Box 205 Cutler, OH, for contempt
for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines
in the sum of $188.50. Singer was previously charged with passing
bad checks by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
James J. Lowers, age 24, Post Office Box 15, Lowell, OH, for
contempt for failing to appear at a court ordered hearing on
unpaid fines in the sum of $278.00. Lowers was previously charged
with littering by the Marietta City Police Department.
Jessy L. Simmons, age 21, 728 Third Street Rear, Marietta, OH,
for probation violation for failing to complete 40 hours of
supervised community service, pay restitution to Wal-Mart, or
to stay in contact with the Probation Department as ordered
by the Marietta Municipal Court. Simmons was previously charged
with theft by the Marietta City Police Department.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Ryan L. Patel, age 24, 211 Wood Valley Apartments,
Williamstown, WV, for misdemeanor charges of OMVI and possession
of drug paraphernalia. Patel was arrested on Seventh Street
in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 10 Dec 03 at
1:50 am.
Augustine Brunoni, Jr., age 23, 8 Harris Trailer
Park, Newport, for misdemeanor charges of arson and resisting
arrest.
Brunoni was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Hiatt of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 10 Dec 03 at 12:15 pm.
Joseph D. Berry, age 55, Marietta, for misdemeanor charges
of theft and receiving stolen property.
Berry was arrested at Long John Silvers by Patrolman Arbaugh
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 10 Dec 03 at 10:43 pm.
