On 5 Dec 03 Deputy Sheriff Jenkins and Lt. Wilson
were dispatched to the Station Carryout on County Road 51 in
Dunham Township. The driver of a vehicle had been observed
spinning
his tires and driving in circles in the intersection of State
Route 7 and County Road 51.
He then drove to the Station Carryout. Upon making contact
with the driver an odor of alcoholic beverages and an open
container
was observed. After performing poorly on standardized field
sobriety tests and testing above legal limits on a breathalyzer
test John F. Batten, age 39, Route 4 Box 98, Vincent, was arrested
for OMVI and reckless operation and transported to the Washington
County Jail.
On 5 Dec 03 an employee of Washington County Children’s
Services reported a four year old Washington County boy may
be a victim of abuse. This case remains under investigation
(698).
On 5 Dec 03 the Sheriff’s Office assisted
the Marietta Police Department in the recovery of a stolen 1967
Corvette which was located in Newport (1190).
On 5 Dec 03 while on patrol between the 300 and
400 blocks of Chamberlain Drive, Marietta, Deputy Sheriff Mankins
stopped a 1979 Ford truck for speeding. Upon making contact
with the driver Deputy Mankins detected an odor of alcohol.
The driver of the vehicle, George E. Hall, age 29, 30095 State
Route 7, Marietta, admitted drinking two beers and subsequently
failed field sobriety and blood alcohol tests. Mr. Hall was
issued a citation for speeding, arrested for OMVI and transported
to the Washington County Jail.
On 5 Dec 03 Michael E. Tant, age 32, 3090 Braun
Road, Belpre, reported an unknown person(s) broke into his locked
GMC Truck and stole his in dash CD player and miscellaneous
CD’s some time between 8 Nov and 1 Dec 03. This case remains
under investigation (602).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John F. Batten, age 39, 908 Main Street, Belpre,
for OMVI and reckless operation, both misdemeanors.
Deputy Sheriff Jenkins arrested Mr. Batten at the Station Carryout
on County Road 51 and transported him to the Washington County
Jail where he was processed in on 5 Dec 03 at 1:50 am.
George E. Hall, age 29, 30095 State Route
7, Marietta, for misdemeanor charges of OMVI and speeding.
Hall was arrested in Devola by Deputy Sheriff Mankins of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 5 Dec 03 at 4:35 pm.
