On 20 Nov 03 the Sheriff’s Office received
an anonymous letter concerning illegal activities. The information
was forwarded to the appropriate agency for further investigation
(953).
On 20 Nov 03 Deputy Sheriff Eddy was dispatched to Route 1 Box
255A State Route 7, concerning the death of the property’s
owner Richard C. Reeder, age 57. An investigation concluded
the death was apparently due to natural causes and no suspicious
activity was detected (945).
On 20 Nov 03 Richard S. Earley, age 64, PO Box 475, New Matamoras,
reported to the Sheriff’s Office that the owner of a property
on Sheets Run Road in New Matamoras has several junk cars and
trash on the right of way. This case remains under investigation
(1071).
On 20 Nov 03 an employee of United Rentals, 1205 Pike Street,
Marietta, reported to the Sheriff’s Office that a client
rented a scaffolding section on 24 Jul 03 and has yet to return
it. This case remains under investigation (897).
On 20 Nov 03 Matthew J. Cornell, age 19, 216 13 th Street, Parkersburg,
WV, an inmate at the Washington County Jail, reported to the
Sheriff’s Office that he was assaulted by two other inmates
between 2 and 3 pm on 20 Nov 03. This incident remains under
investigation (296).
On 20 Nov 03 an employee of Alliance Data Systems, State Route
7, Reno, reported to the Sheriff’s Office that between
3:30 and 9 pm on 20 Nov 03 an unidentified person(s) pulled
the handicap parking signs off the posts in the Kardex parking
lot, causing minor damage to the signs and posts. This case
remains under investigation (296).
On 20 Nov 03 Darryl W. Racy, age 56, 150 Cherry Blossom Lane,
Little Hocking, reported to the Sheriff’s Office that
when he received his credit card bill for the month of October,
an unauthorized individual used his account to purchase a Dell
computer. This incident remains under investigation (1090).
On 20 Nov 03 while on patrol on State Route 124
near County Road 26, Deputy Sheriff Lt. Wilson issued a citation
to Maggie J. Orear, age 19, Route 1 Box 71A, West Union, WV,
for traveling 61 mph in a 40 mph zone.
On 20 Nov 03 a Washington County resident reported suspicious
activity. This case remains under investigation (501).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Richard A. Layman, age 43, 304 Chamberlain Drive,
Marietta, for contempt of court, a misdemeanor. Layman turned
himself into Deputy Sheriff Sears of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and was processed into the Washington County Jail on
20 Nov 03 at 9:22 am.
Warren S. L. Tucker, age 22, 310 Sixth Street, Marietta, for
misdemeanor counts of driving under suspension and having fictitious
plates. Tucker was arrested in Marietta by Officer Arbaugh of
the Marietta Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 20 Nov 03 at 5:40 pm.
